How-To Guide: Baby Soft Skin

Doesn’t matter your age, everyone should take care of their skin. Young kids have perfect, poreless, soft skin but somehow we lose it along the way and we wake up in our twenties (some earlier, some later) longing that beautiful time where we didn’t have to work to achieve that baby soft skin look. Some of us are daunted by how many products and techniques there are to better your skin. You can get lost in a sea of drugstore and high-end skincare and soon enough you find yourself with a cabinet full of products that don’t work for you and you will never use. But contrary to popular belief, a skincare routine doesn’t have to be complicated nor does it have to be super expensive. Investing in a few key products and with the help of some DIY masks you can customize your skincare routine to fit your budget and your skin needs.

Over the years I’ve curated some techniques and products that help me achieve that perfect complexion I’ve always dreamed of. Looking for the perfect natural skincare routine I came across a Vasanti Cosmetics travel set that I fell in love with. Since then, I’ve incorporated those products and a handful more to my routine and found a combo I’m in love with.

I start by using the Detox Facial Cleanser to get rid of some of the impurities and oil that get on my skin overnight. I find that my skin looks and feels super clean and smooth after using this cleanser. It even gets read of some traces of makeup that are left from the night before if I didn’t properly cleanse that night. Also, it doesn’t strip the skin too much like other cleansers do.

After the cleanser, once every other day I use the Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator to help exfoliate my skin. I get a lot of build up around my nose and on my chin and I need a good exfoliator that will get rid of the dead skin without over stripping it. I wet my face and then massage a little pea size amount of the Face Rejuvenator all over my face (avoiding eye area and lips) and then rinse with warm water. The results are instant but you can really see the difference when you’re using it constantly 3 to 5 times a week.

After the exfoliator (or if I’m not using the exfoliator, after the cleanser) I apply a little bit of the Brighten Up! Glow Boosting Serum all over my skin to really hydrate and nourish it. It is lighter than using an oil and it absorbs right into the skin, leaving behind a really nice glow that makes my skin look really good and healthy. It feels fresh and soothing and it’s one of my favorite parts of my skincare routine.

The Brighten Up! Amplifying Moisturizer is the next step. Using a lightweight moisturizer helps to hydrate the skin even more and also lock in all that goodness from the serum. I apply it once I know all the serum has sunk in, massaging it into the skin to ensure I apply it evenly throughout my complexion. It’s made from natural ingredients and would work for a variety of skin types in my opinion.

The Amplifying Moisturizer is followed by the Eye Wonder 2.0: the last step in my routine. A good eye cream is a must have in your bathroom cabinet. The first wrinkles always appear near the eyes and plus the skin is usually pretty dry on the undereye area. This cream has a lot of really good ingredients that help to smooth and hydrate the skin. It also has a ceramic tip that helps to combat puffiness and promote circulation.

If you feel like you need a refresh throughout the day, a good setting mist is the perfect solution to rehydrate and rebalance your skin without disrupting your makeup or even needing a mirror. The Rosewater and Pomegranate Refreshing Spray is the one I’m using currently and I find that it works perfectly over makeup or alone. It’s hydrating enough that you feel the difference after applying but it’s not so oily or watery that it will make a mess of your face. The mister is really good (which is almost as important as the liquid itself) and distributes the product softly so you won’t have to worry about having weird splotches of setting mist on your face.

It may look like too many steps, but you can always customize your routine to fit your needs, your budget and how much time you have on mornings and nights to follow it. I personally use this combo of products but I invite you to experiment and find the combo that works best for you. Remember that the results of a good routine are evident after a couple of weeks of constant use. Miracle solutions don’t exist and consistency is key to achieving that baby soft skin that everybody wants.

Even though you can rely just on these products, it is always good to complement your routine with masks to further hydrate and balance your skin. You should do masks two or three times a week to get constant and durable results, even if you can see a difference right away. I like to do masks after exfoliating.

A good DIY mask for dry skin is: coconut oil + instant coffee. The coconut oil will smooth and hydrate your skin. If you find it too heavy you can replace it with jojoba oil, which is lighter but still super nourishing. The instant coffee will help to brighten your skin and reduce dark spots and under eye discoloration.

If you have more oily or acne-prone skin you can mix rosehip oil with a very small drop of tea tree oil. Contrary to popular belief, you still need to hydrate your skin if you have an oily complexion. The rosehip oil will help nourish without clogging pores and the tea tree oil is a natural disinfectant that will help reduce and eradicate pimples and whiteheads. Please remember to double check if the tea tree oil is pure or diluted, and use a small amount if it is pure.

I hope you find this information useful and please let me know which of these products you’ve tried and how they are working for you. This routine is good for a variety of skin types so you can always add more products to customize it even more.
